Skills Required
- Strong technical knowledge in yarn, fabric, knitting, weaving, dyeing and finishing.
- Able to define and interpret desired fabric characteristics, and understand the production needed to achieve these characteristics.
- Able to work together with a diverse group of technical, creative and business people from multiple cultures and achieve the desired results in fabric quality, lead-time and price.
- Ability to define and regiment process and procedure, and manage it on an ongoing basis.
- Ability to negotiate fabric and price effectively and teach others this skill.
- Technical ability to anticipate production problems and solve them in partnership with the mills upfront.
- Ability to lead the effort to manage data in order to coordinate fabric needs across programs, businesses and retail markets.
- Able to determine what is necessary to achieve product / fabric objectives, and make decisions on what is possible in production. Ability to creatively identify alternative solutions.
- A technical expert in fabric and production with excellent problem solving skills. Good knowledge of mill equipment and its operation.
Responsible
- Build a Fabric team overseas with strong expertise in sourcing and development as well as technical capabilities in production and quality.
- Develop and lead the execution of the Company fabric strategy.
- Coordinate purchases between businesses and markets.
- Develop strategic partnerships with key mills. Create and own the mill matrix and manage/improve mill performance.
- Work with key parties within Wal-Mart to understand and have impact on quality, delivery and pricing objectives by product.
- Work with manufactures to achieve or exceed these product objectives
- Leverage raw materials use to reduce costs
Responsible for all raw material testing procedures and overseas execution as well as color approval.
