Conservation International, an international non-governmental organization, is seeking applicants for senior level technical and management positions to be based in Jakarta for the following positions:
TERRESTRIAL TECHNICAL PROGRAM DIRECTOR (1) (Jakarta Job)
This position will lead all technical aspects of the terrestrial program and will be responsible for developing sound strategies in achieving conservation outcomes, including leading a team in implementing CI Indonesia’s portfolio of terrestrial projects, improving policies on natural resource management and supporting fund-raising efforts.
Requirements: MSc. in Environmental management or similar qualification. At least 10 years terrestrial field experience managing and advising on community-based conservation programs in Indonesia, including research throughout Indonesia’s 3 Biogeographical regions. Strong network with donors and familiar with policies related to climate issues are preferred. Strong bilingual skills (English/ Indonesian).
NATURAL RESOURCES ECONOMIST (1) (Jakarta)
Lead analyses of distribution, and tradeoffs, and support broader economic analysis (e.g. sectoral assessments, profitability of extractive or sustainable enterprises, etc.). Valuation studies assessing cash and non-cash contributions of natural capital to the local and regional economy and assessments of payment for ecosystem services.
Requirements: Relevant formal qualification and at least 5 years in environmental/development economics/related field, demonstrated technical proficiency in carrying out high quality environmental economic analysis, experience in practical application of economics to conservation and development issues. Strong bilingual skills (English/ Indonesian).
LIVELIHOOD DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST (1) (Jakarta)
Lead research, participatory analysis processes, and ensure coherent integration of economic development activities with conservation activities. Implement economic development program activities, including value chain analyses, guiding economic development program design. Build capacity of CI staff and stakeholder to use good practice in economic development programming, with specific focus on value chain approach. Requirements: Relevant formal qualification and 5 or more years managing economic development program that includes value chain-based approaches and experience working in the private sector, agricultural producers, cooperatives and/or producer associations. Demonstrate project reporting, work-planning, and budgeting experience. Strong bilingual skills (English/Indonesian).
POLICY SPECIALIST (2) (Sumatra & Papua)
Lead Sumatra/Papua policy and advocacy strategy development and implement conservation policy and governance elements of CI-Indonesia program initiative. Provide analytical assessment of existing legislation or regulation and provide inputs for improved policies on natural resources management particularly at provincial, and district government.
Requirements: At least 8 years experience in conservation work. Knowledgeable and capable on policy and advocacy work strategy, policy development and reform mainly in the era of decentralized governing system in Indonesia, mainly in the landscape project site. Demonstrate competency in field team management, multi stake holder facilitation and policy lobbying especially in conservation issues. Strong bilingual skills (English/Indonesia) preferred.
